The full selection cycle,
in one integrated system.

Six connected steps from genotyping to mating decision — no data exports, no third-party hand-offs, no gaps in the workflow.

STEP 01
🧪
Sample & Genotyping
Tissue or blood samples are processed through our partner Eurofins Genomics. Results return in industry-standard format directly into the platform.
STEP 02
📥
Data Import
Pedigree records, performance data, and existing genotype files are imported via API or structured upload. Validation flags errors before they cascade.
STEP 03
⚙️
Genomic Evaluation
Single-step GBLUP (ssGBLUP) evaluation combines genotype, pedigree, and phenotype data across all genotyped and non-genotyped animals simultaneously.
STEP 04
📊
Genomic EBV Calculation
Genomic Estimated Breeding Values (gEBVs) are calculated for production, health, fertility, and functional traits — calibrated to your population.
STEP 05
🔗
Mating Optimisation
Bull-to-cow assignment is optimised to balance genetic merit, inbreeding constraints, and trait targets — for individuals or the entire herd simultaneously.
STEP 06
Breeding Decision
Herd managers and breeding advisors receive clear, ranked recommendations with projected merit and confidence intervals for each mating.

Your genotype data stays yours.

Unlike integrated vendor platforms, Breedi is built on one non-negotiable principle: the farmer always owns their raw genotype data.

🔑
One-click raw data access
Farmers and herds can export their complete raw genotype files at any time, with no restrictions and no extraction fees.
🌐
Open evaluation architecture
Breedi supports evaluation against any reference population — not locked to a single vendor's proprietary database.
🔬
ICAR-accredited methodology
Breedi is one of 26 ICAR-accredited genomic evaluation centres globally — independently verified for methodological rigour.
🌍
Designed for tropical & emerging breeds
Reference populations for Girolando, Gir Leiteiro, crossbred, and heat-tolerant breeds — not just the standard European dairy breeds.

Common questions.

What is genomic selection and how does it work?
+
Genomic selection is a breeding method that uses DNA marker data, distributed across the entire genome, to predict the genetic value of an animal for traits that matter economically — milk yield, fertility, health, longevity. Unlike traditional pedigree-based BLUP, genomic selection captures Mendelian sampling variance (the randomness in inheritance between parent and offspring), enabling more accurate predictions from younger animals — before they have their own performance records.
What breeds does Breedi support?
+
Breedi supports standard European dairy breeds (Holstein-Friesian, Brown Swiss, Montbéliarde, and others), as well as tropical and crossbred populations including Girolando, Gir Leiteiro (Gyr dairy), Brahman crossbreeds, and Simmental. We actively develop reference populations for underserved breeds — particularly in Latin America, the Gulf, and South Asia.
What does ICAR accreditation mean in practice?
+
ICAR (the International Committee for Animal Recording) is the global standard-setting body for animal recording and evaluation. ICAR accreditation means our genomic evaluation methodology has been independently reviewed and verified against the international criteria for accuracy, traceability, and transparency. Breedi is one of only 26 ICAR-accredited genomic evaluation centres in the world.
Who owns the genotype data?
+
The animal owner. Always. Breedi's farmer-first data ownership policy means that the farm or herd operator retains full rights to their raw genotype data, accessible via one-click export at any time. We do not sell, aggregate, or share genotype data with third parties — including semen companies or commercial breeding organisations — without explicit written consent from the data owner.
How does Breedi integrate with our existing laboratory infrastructure?
+
Breedi provides a documented REST API for laboratory integration, supporting standard genotype file formats (VCF, PLINK, proprietary chip formats). Most laboratory integrations are operational within 2–4 weeks. For existing Eurofins Genomics laboratory customers, integration is streamlined further through our partnership infrastructure.
